It all starts with the care and tending of the garden. After much watchful waiting, the first blossoms appear. I take a few flowers to the studio, where the first job is to choose the right vessel. I'm a big collector (hoarder?) of vases and jars! It can be quite a design process to select the vessel, the fabric or panel for the backdrop, and the material for the tabletop. I'm usually thinking about color harmonies, or color complements, when I do this. A variation of lights and darks is also important.
